A Day In The Life Of A Disney World CP

Long time no post!! It's hard to think of ideas once you've posted as many times as I have haha. But I realized that I never made a post about what my daily schedule looked like! This is based on my average work day as a CP in Disney's Hollywood Studios, quick-service food & beverage at Studio Catering Co. This will OBVIOUSLY vary from role to role, and location to location, and many roles don't even have an average day! But this is my typical day. Keep in mind my location had limited hours, so I had short 6 hour shifts generally.

-Wake up at 9:45am

-Eat breakfast, usually I had cereal or toast

-Change into costume

-Pack "lunch" which for me was either just an apple for 6 hour shifts, or an Uncrustables and an apple (yes, I'm a child)

-Take the 10:30am bus to Hollywood Studios

-Arrive 45 minutes early and walk to work location

-Put lunch/keys/jacket/whatever in a locker

-Sit outside on the picnic table with my phone until it's time to clock in

-Clock in at 11:58am (ish) for my noon shift

-Pick up my first assignment, this could be bussing or trash or counter or register, etc.

-Around 2pm get bumped to a new position

-Between 3pm and 4:30pm get my 15 minute break

-Eat my lunch or snack and chat with my coworkers for my 15 minute break, I usually sat outside at our picnic table

-Go get my new assignment after break

-Close at 5:30pm, turn guests away from the register, turn off kitchen equipment

-Closing tasks until they're done, we often got out after we were scheduled to

-6:00-6:30pm clock out for the day and grab stuff from locker

-Walk to costuming to return costumes or check out new ones if needed

-Hop on whatever bus comes earliest and head home

-7:30pm walk inside and make dinner (or heat up frozen dinner, AKA frozen pizza haha)

-Catch up with roomies and make plans for days off or park excursions before/after work

-10pm go to bed

So there you have it! That was my typical shift and schedule. Sometimes I went into the park after work if I got out early, and sometimes I made time to call/Skype my family (but let's be honest, time flies and you end up only calling once a week). I had a fairly consistent schedule, but MANY roles will not have schedules that look like this. My custodial roommates had pretty random schedules, and Mikaela who worked QSFB in Magic Kingdom had much longer and later shifts. Luckily the rooms worked out so my room roomies and I all had earlier shifts, and the other room all had late shifts. So sleeping schedules worked out well, this is something you don't think of, but it's a good thing to consider when picking your room roommate/s!

I hope this was interesting and/or helpful. I miss weekly blogging! And Disney of course!!! Hopefully a year from now I'll be back for round two <3
